The Fishing Camper - Custom Camper Builder

The Fishing Camper is a Camper that we build for the primary purpose of having someplace the stay while fishing on a remote river. This Camper is designed to be easy to pack up, has very few add ons and is basically just a place to sleep on the side of a river or lake. It is designed to be light weight and mounts on a half ton pickup truck. It does have tie downs for stability on the road but it is designed to be less than 1000 pounds in weight. It is fully insulated on all sides with styrofoam insulation and all walls are framed with 1 1/2 framing to accommodate the insulation.

Construction;

Floor

The floor of this camper is build of 1/2 inch plywood on the bottom and the floor is framed with 2×2 framing. Between the framing is 1 1/2 Styrofoam insulation with a top of 1/2 inch plywood. The bottom of the floor is sprayed with a product called Rocker Guard. This product is very durable and stands up to any an all abuse that the bottom of the camper may be subjected to. The floor is assembled using 1 1/2 construction screws and the framing is assembled using 3 inch construction screws.

Walls

All of the walls of this camper are build using 2×2 framing using 3 inch construction screws. The spaces between the framing is filled with 1 1/2 Styrofoam insulation. The inside of the walls is made with standard panelling and the outside of the walls is 1/4 inch plywood. On top of the outside sheathing plywood is Sheet metal siding. Also in the walls is all of the wiring for the lights and any other electrical devices.

Windows

The windows in this camper are all standard camper windows and can have square corners or round corners. Each window has a screened section and can be opened from the inside. All windows also lock from the inside and come equipped with blinds that can be opened or closed.

Door

The door of this camper is also framed with 2×2’s and insulated with 1 1/2 styrofoam insulation. The door is also framed with aluminum angle and comes with a deadbolt lock.

Roof

The roof of this camper is build with 2×2 framing and panelling on the inside and plywood on the outside. The roof also has styrofoam insulation and on the outside is enclosed with a sheet metal continuous roof. There are no seams in the roof section of sheet metal. In the roof there is a roof vent for venting in the camper.

Camper Jacks

This camper comes with 4 manual camper jacks that are mounted to the 4 corners of the camper. The jacks can be removed to give more clearance on narrow or rough trails.

Tie Downs

The tie downs for this camper are mounted to the frame of the truck and connected to the camper using standard turn buckles. The camper can also be built to mount on the truck using hidden camper tie downs.

Electrical

This camper is very basic and comes with a single LED light inside and a single LED porch light. On the outside it also has a set of Led Marker lights that are lit when the headlights of the truck are turned on. This camper can be equipped with a full Solar Electrical system with Solar Panels and batteries.

Camper Size

This camper is built to fit on your truck. It can be built to fit a 1/2 ton F150 with a 5 foot 5 box with the box closed. Or it can be built to fit a 6 foot 6 box or an 8 foot box with the tailgate closed. The shorter pickup makes the storage options in this camper very minimal. On the larger 8 foot camper we can add a small kitchen and incorporate a larger bed.

When building this camper we can also customize the interior finish and we can use many different finishes on the outside. We can use different colours of panelling and siding on the inside and on the outside we can use fiberglass, filon, sheetmetal, or plain waterproofed plywood.
